The monumental sculpture Origine (2019) by Maria Cristina Carlini joins the permanent collection of Horti at Almo Collegio Borromeo in Pavia, a place where contemporary art, nature, and community coexist in a continuous dialogue.

Composed of seven polychrome stoneware columns standing over three metres high, Origine embodies some of the most significant themes of the artist’s practice: the relationship between human beings and nature, the memory embedded in matter, and transformation as an ongoing process. Air, water, earth, and fire, the fundamental elements of ceramic creation, shape a presence that emerges from the landscape as a sign of connection between individual experience and collective memory.

The permanent installation of the work at Horti confirms the commitment of Fondazione Maria Cristina Carlini ETS to promoting an artistic practice that places dialogue between material, environment, and cultural responsibility at its core.
